Now lets actually talk about the game. Treyarch had a really tough challenge having to beat Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 and make it better than World at War (which didn’t turn out as well as Modern Warfare 1). How did Treyarch do, well lets just say it’s a completely different game than Modern Warfare 2. Diehard fans of the series may enjoy it, while others may want to go back to Modern Warfare 2.
The main difference you will see right after you start the game is the time period. Modern Warfare 2 was in modern times while Black Ops is taken place during the cold war (which is around the 1960’s). Weapons are a bit weird because they’re some modern weapons, but then again there are some historical weapons. This can make the experience feel a bit awkward since this IS during the 60’s. If you can deal with modern weapons involved in this, then you will be finding and thinking this is an awesome game.
We’ll start off with the campaign. The keyword people constantly hear about Black Ops’ campaign is “cinematic”. So now you’re wondering, is it really that cinematic? Some people would say it is, while others may think they just emphasized it. The reason why people would think Treyarch emphasized it is because it is really confusing for some people to even know what’s going on. I’ll try not to spoil it but you are Alex Mason, a soldier during the Cold War that has been captured and being asked questions he forgot about. As Mason is answering these questions, you are able to play through what he is saying even though some of the events didn’t really happen at all or he only remembers part of it. This can either harm the player’s experience, or make it really interesting.
